Terms of Use

Short version: be normal. Post the kind of thing you would be fine with your friends, your chapter, and a bar manager all seeing.

You agree to these terms when you create a WYA account. If you do not agree with them, do not use WYA.

Who can use WYA

• You need a working @msu.edu email address.
• You must be 17 or older.
• One account per person. Do not pretend to be someone else.
• Do not share your account or let someone else post from it.

WYA shows bars and drink specials. It does not sell alcohol and it does not check anyone's age at the door. If you are under 21, drinking is illegal in Michigan, and nothing in this app changes that.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content

Do not post, send, or upload:

• Nudity, sexual content, or anything sexualising a minor.
• Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or intimidation of anyone.
• Hate speech or attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
• Violence, gore, or encouragement of self-harm, disordered eating, or suicide.
• Photos or video of someone who did not want to be filmed, and anything taken in a bathroom, locker room, or anywhere else people expect privacy.
• Someone's address, phone number, class schedule, or other private information about where to find them.
• Hazing, or pressuring anyone to drink.
• Sale of drugs, alcohol, fake IDs, or anything else illegal.
• Spam, scams, or impersonation of another person, a bar, or a chapter.

WYA screens what you type before it sends and blocks the worst of it automatically. Automatic screening is not perfect, which is why reporting exists.

Reporting, and what happens next

Every photo, video, message, and profile in WYA can be reported. Open the ••• menu on anything and choose report.

• Reported content is hidden right away, before anyone reviews it. You do not have to wait for us to wake up.
• Every report is reviewed within 24 hours.
• If it breaks these rules, the content stays down and the account is removed. If it does not, the content comes back.
• You can also block anyone from their profile. They immediately stop being able to see you, message you, or find you on the map.

You can report something serious directly to support@getwya.com. If someone is in danger, call 911 or MSU Police at (517) 355-2221 first.

Your location

Your location is shared only with friends you have accepted, only while WYA is open, and you can turn it off at any time. What is collected and how to delete it is in the Privacy Policy.

Your content

What you post stays yours. You give WYA permission to store it and show it to the people you posted it to, and nothing more. WYA does not sell your content, and it is not used to train anything.

Live photos disappear after 24 hours. You can delete anything you have posted at any time, and you can delete your whole account from Profile → delete my account, which removes your posts, messages, and location history.

Bars

Bars update their own specials pages. WYA does not guarantee that a special is still running, that a bar is open, or that a headcount is exact. Bars see how many people are checked in. They never see who.

Things WYA is not responsible for

WYA is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. It is a map made by a student, not a safety service. Do not rely on it to know whether a friend is safe. To the fullest extent the law allows, WYA and its creator are not liable for anything that happens because you used it, including anything another user posts or does.

Ending your account

You can delete your account in the app whenever you want. WYA can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules, and for repeat or serious violations that decision is final.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes and you will be told in the app.
